The 2018 NFL Draft is fast approaching. Thus, we give you the best draft picks the Los Angeles Chargers have ever made; starting with the offense.

The Los Angeles Chargers enter the 2018 NFL Draft in a great position. The team is already has a solid core of guys that will be able to contend for the NFL Playoffs. Los Angeles only needs a few extra pieces to sum up the little number of holes on the roster. The NFL Draft will be perfect for that.

Although the Chargers do not have a majorly prestigious history and have no Super Bowl rings, the team has drafted some superstars in its history. In honor of it being draft season, we wanted to take a look back at all of the great stars that have been drafted by the Chargers. Starting, of course, with the quarterback.

Quarterback: Dan Fouts

This really should be Philip Rivers. Rivers has already done enough to be the best quarterback in Los Angeles Chargers’ history, leading in passing yards, touchdowns and total wins. He is a lifetime Charger, having joined the team after the 2004 NFL Draft.

However, the Chargers executed the infamous draft-day swap between Rivers and the original pick, Eli Manning. Thus, Rivers was technically not drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers.

Dan Fouts, however, was drafted by the Chargers in the third-round of the 1973 NFL Draft. Prior to Rivers coming along, Fouts held all of the records listed above that Rivers had broken. Fouts is a six-time Pro Bowler, two-time All-Pro, was the 1982 Offensive Player of the Year and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1993.

Fouts was voted as the best Charger in a fan vote back in 2009. Now, that likely has shifted to either Rivers or another name that will be mentioned on this list. Regardless, Fouts belongs on the Chargers’ Mount Rushmore and is the best quarterback the team has ever drafted.
