Kawhi Leonard has become the latest subject of the Lakers trade rumors. Here are three reasons why that trade must happen.

The speculation and intrigue around the Los Angeles Lakers and the future that Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka have in mind will not slow down. For over a year now, the Lakers have been tied to several superstars despite being one of the worst teams in basketball over the last five years.

However, Johnson and Pelinka finally have a product that can lure in stars after just one year of running the team. There is a promising young core in Los Angeles that alone could be title worthy in four or so seasons. Add in a superstar now and the Lakers could be challenging the Warriors and Rockets for Western Conference supremacy.

Most of these rumored superstars have been proposed free agent acquisitions. A new name has emerged, however, that could completely shift the landscape of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Sporting News reports that the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Kawhi Leonard; who has a rocky relationship with the San Antonio Spurs. With one year left on his deal, the Spurs may be looking to trade Leonard if he will not commit to a max contract with the team.

It makes sense for the Lakers to be a potential suitor. Leonard is from Los Angeles and the Lakers provide a better chance to win now than the Clippers do.

These Lakers trade rumors have drawn mixed reactions; some seem to love the deal and others want nothing to do with it. Thus, I am going to give you three reasons to keep in mind why this deal must happen for LA.
