The Los Angeles Chargers had a very strong showing in the 2018 NFL Draft yet it is never too early to start looking towards the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Los Angeles Chargers, for the second consecutive season, had one of the best showings at the NFL Draft. With the 17th overall selection, the Chargers were able to land safety Derwin James.

Many had James as the best safety in the entire draft class and a proverbial top-10 guy. After some early round moving and some questionable picks from other teams, the Chargers had James sitting right on their lap. Although James was never considered a draft target, selecting him was huge for the Chargers.

The rest of the draft was good as well. Second-round pick Uchenna Nwosu has a ton of upside as an edge-rush defender as well as someone that can get to the passer behind either Joey Bosa or Melvin Ingram. Nwosu was one of the hardest hitters in the draft.

Third-round pick Justin Jones will help in the run game and will probably be the eventual successor to Brandon Mebane at defensive tackle. Jones adds much-needed depth and will fill in for Corey Liuget during his four-game suspension.

Those three picks headline a solid draft class that also consisted of some offensive line help, another rotational running back and a receiver.

However, there were still some long-term questions that the Los Angeles Chargers did not address. Thus, here are five way-too-early targets that you should keep in mind for LA in the 2019 NFL Draft.
