3. Collin Johnson, WR, Texas

Although the Los Angeles Chargers did select one wide receiver in the 2018 NFL Draft, the need for one is going to extend towards the 2019 NFL Draft. Even if 2017 first-round pick Mike Williams blossoms into a star, the Chargers should already be examing what the future holds at the position.

Receiver Tyrell Williams is set to be an unrestricted free agent following next season. If the Chargers and Williams cannot come to an agreement on a deal, selecting a receiver in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft may become a necessity.

If it is, then the Chargers don’t have to look much further than Collin Johnson of Texas. Johnson is a big-bodied receiver, six-foot-six, and can be a huge vertical threat in the NFL. Walter Football has Johnson as the second-best receiver in next year’s draft class.

The Chargers are going to need a vertical threat that they can plug in at both wideout and the slot with Williams potentially hitting the open market. Johnson can provide just that; his size makes him a viable threat at wideout and his athleticism will make him a threat in the slot.

Wide receiver is a revolving door of talent in the NFL. Very rarely does a team maintain a core group of receivers for more than a year or two. Johnson might have to be the next phase of a great Chargers receiving core.
