4. Josh Allen, LB, Kentucky

Although the Los Angeles Chargers did address the run defense in the 2018 NFL Draft, the team still has some work to do. The linebacker unit is still questionable in the middle and only time will tell if they will be able to hold up against the run.

Thus, looking at the future of middle linebackers becomes a smart investment for the Los Angeles Chargers. This is even more important considering that the team will have to deal with multiple unrestricted free agents in the linebacker unit next off-season.

Because of all these factors, linebacker is the most probable position the Chargers will pick in the first round, at least today. As it stands today, there is no better option than Kentucky’s Josh Allen.

Allen is naturally an outside linebacker but possesses the athleticism and ability to play the MIKE for the Chargers. At Kentucky, Allen has utilized his six-foot-five frame and great athleticism to be a consistent playmaker on the defense.

Allen is the perfect mold of the new wave of linebackers that are freak athletes. Allen will definitely be NFL ready by the time the 2019 NFL Draft rolls around and will help the Chargers in more ways than one. Alongside Nwosu, the Los Angeles Chargers would be forming a scary, young, linebacker core.
