Infielders:

  • C Yasmani Grandal: A

For the majority of the season, Yasmani Grandal has been the Dodgers’ best hitter. A slow end of the month prevents him from getting an A+, but Grandal has made significant improvements at the plate.

  • 1B Cody Bellinger: A-

Cody Bellinger is quietly putting together a great year thus far. While the power stroke has not yet hit its stride (three home runs in 103 at-bats) Bellinger still carries a .291 average and .827 OPS.

  • 2B Chase Utley: A

Chase Utley may be the surprise of the entire group. Signed as a lockerroom presence and mentor to Corey Seager, not many expected Utley to have a big impact. With Justin Turner and now Logan Forsythe hurt, Utley has played a big role. In that role, he is hitting .298 with 11 RBIs.

  • SS Corey Seager: C

Corey Seager has not had a bad start to the season, but it has been disappointing considering who he is. While a late month surge has helped his numbers, Seager has slugged just two home runs to go along with 13 RBIs and a .267 average.

Unfortunately, Corey Seager will not be able to build on a “meh” April as he will miss the rest of the season to undergo Tommy John surgery.

  • 3B Logan Forsythe: D+

Logan Forsythe continues his offensive woes as a Dodger that hurt him last season. While it could have been the case of another injury bugging Forsythe, a .174 average is not great. He is putting the ball in play, just not getting hits. His fielding at second is the only thing saving him from an F.

  • IF Enrique Hernandez: B-

Enrique Hernandez had a bit of a slow start but has turned it around in the later half of the month. Spending most of his time in the infield, Hernandez has flashed some serious leather to go along with an improvement at the plate.

  • C/2B: Austin Barnes: D-

Austin Barnes is quietly having one of the worst offensive seasons for the Dodgers thus far. The catching platoon has been less of a platoon because of Grandal’s hot bat and Barnes has paid the price. Barnes is hitting .190 with 11 strikeouts in 55 plate appearances.

  • 3B Kyle Farmer: C

Kyle Farmer was brought up as a depth piece while Justin Turner recovers from his wrist injury. Farmer’s biggest hit was a game-winning double against the Giants. Aside from that, Farmer has been “meh” at the plate, however, has flashed good leather at third base.

  • IF Max Muncy: C

Max Muncy is in the exact same situation as Farmer. Called up as a depth piece to help with injuries, Muncy has not had a huge role and has simply produced as you would expect a Triple-A call-up to. Nothing bad, nothing good.
