The Los Angeles Lakers have been tied to hometown superstar Paul George for over a year now. After an early playoff elimination, George is out of OKC.

The moment that Los Angeles Lakers fans have been waiting for is getting closer. Since Rob Pelinka took over general manager duties over a year ago, the potential of landing a superstar has been tossed around. Several stars have been speculated, the strongest connection being with LA native Paul George.

The Los Angeles Lakers were connected to George before he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder last July. Before a deal was made, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson looked like the perfect trade package to land George.

Luckily, the Pacers went with the Thunder as they landed breakout star Victor Oladipo, who arguably outplayed George last season.

Despite being traded to the Thunder, the speculation around George and the Los Angeles Lakers continued to grow. Even with a superstar trio in OKC, many were convinced that George was going to opt out of his deal after the season and come home to LA.

While George himself has refuted every notion that he will undoubtedly be a Laker, the situation got way more interesting after the Thunder’s first-round elimination from the NBA Playoffs; which has, in turn, caused reports that George is done with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Los Angeles Lakers may be the favorites to land Paul George this summer. But it won’t be without some competition.
