The Los Angeles Dodgers enter the last game of the Mexico Series after losing Clayton Kershaw to the DL. However, the Beat the Streak must go on.

Today is yet another sad day for Dodgers fans. After losing several of the best players on the team, yet another hit the DL in Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw adds to a list including Justin Turner, Corey Seager, Yasiel Puig and Logan Forsythe.

However, we must continue on with our Dodgers Beat the Streak Series. Thus, let’s just get right into the picks and try not to think too much about Clayton Kershaw.

Saturday’s picks:

Saturday was not a good day for our Beat the Streak, either. We both failed to successfully pick a Dodger to get a hit.

I went with Cody Bellinger, who went 0-4 with two strikeouts. As for Sarah, she went with new call-up Alex Verdugo, who has been hitting the ball well.

However, despite making a Web Gem grab in the outfield, Verdugo could not mirror that production at the plate. Verdugo went 0-3 before being pinch hit for by Enrique Hernandez.

Sarah’s picks (Current streak: Zero): Matt Kemp

My pick for today is Matt Kemp. He played great last night, in a game the Dodgers would eventually lose. He’s been such a surprise for Dodger fans, because I think most of us pretty much assumed he’d be traded again by March. Much to our surprise, however, he’s still here, and he’s mashing homers like it’s 2012. He’s hit it out 4 times this year, and is on pace to hit about 20 more.

Kemp isn’t a rookie anymore, and odds are he won’t make the All-Star team this year, but the mere fact that he’s contributing to this team when a lot of people, including me, doubted he’d be here in the first place is absolutely wonderful.

Today, the Dodgers face a rookie in Eric Lauer. In his 2 starts, he’s given up 9 earned runs in 8 innings.

Though he could very well have a great outing today, the Dodgers have been really good at taking advantage of shaky pitching this season. I believe that even if Lauer has a great outing, Kemp is going to have an even better game.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: Zero): Alex Verdugo

I am going with the hitter that stopped Sarah’s streak right in its track yesterday. Although Verdugo did not treat Sarah well yesterday, the chances of him going hitless in two straight contests seems really slim to me.

Next: Is Matt Harvey the answer?

Verdugo consistently hits the ball hard and naturally finds gaps in the field. Thus, something is going to fall and my streak is going to start right up.
