The Los Angeles Lakers have been preparing for a superstar to come to Los Angeles for over a year now. By moving specific pieces, the Lakers were able to open up the most cap space this summer with the potential to sign two superstars.
One of the most talked about superstars for the Los Angeles Lakers has been LeBron James. James has the worst supporting cast since his first run with Cleveland, causing many to believe his departure is inevitable.
The Lakers have been the most talked about destination for LeBron all season. Although those talks did fade some after the Cavaliers traded for young pieces, they are still prominent. The Lakers are reportedly still the favorites to land LeBron James this summer, despite the Cavaliers’ success in the playoffs.
This makes sense, as the Lakers have one of the best young foundations in basketball that can help James make a title push. With the cap space to bring in the pieces that LeBron wants and the already established young stars, it is easy to see why the Lakers may be LeBron’s best choice.
However, the current Lakers team would still need some tweaking. Every LeBron team has the same sort of role players on it. Some of those role players are already on the roster, others need to be added via free agency or trades.
