Los Angeles Lakers: Five burning questions that will be answered this offseason
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers have had so many rumors heading into the 2018 offseason, leading to five questions that will be answered by the team’s actions.
The Los Angeles Lakers may be the most interesting team to watch during the offseason. Depending on how the rest of the NBA Playoffs play out, the Lakers may be looking straight in the face at LeBron James. If it is not LeBron, it will be Paul George. If it is not Paul George, it will be Kawhi Leonard.
Even if it is not Kawhi Leonard, it will be some other star that emerges as a potential target. Freeing up $61 million in practical cap space has given the Lakers the space to go down virtually any path.
The team can bring in stars or, if they strike out in that pursuit, can take on larger, expiring deals and get some good assets out of it. Very few teams have cap space next season so the Lakers’ cap can bring in draft picks galore.
Regardless of the path, the Lakers are going to be active this offseason. The NBA offseason is arguably the most active out of the big four American sports; the Lakers will likely be the most active team in the NBA.
All of this activity is going to help answer the questions that we have about the team. In particular, there are five questions that are inevitably going to be answered by the Los Angeles Lakers’ actions this offseason, regardless of the finished project once next season rolls around.
