4. Yasiel Puig

  • Weekly stats: .250 AVG, 3 HR, 3 RBI, 4 R

Yasiel Puig returned from a brief 10-day DL stint with power in his bat. Although Puig was not extremely impressive at hitting for average, he was able to do something in a one-week span he could not do in the season up to this point: hit a home run.

Puig did not stop at one home run as he added two more solo shots to give him a three home run week. While that level of power may not be maintained by Puig, it was the perfect welcoming back to the lineup. Just imagine if runners were on base for these home runs, Puig would have been in the discussion for the number one spot on this list.

It is nice to see Puig back in the lineup after the revolving door that was outfielders in right field. While he is still not at the level in which the Dodgers would like, a healthy Puig is definitely an upgrade from Tim Locastro.

Hopefully, this week can kick-start a hot summer for Yasiel Puig. Then, only then, can we start making the 2013 comparisons.
