The Los Angeles Lakers are star chasing this offseason. However, the team still needs to consider adding depth to the bench.

Everyone is anticipating the potential superstar move the Los Angeles Lakers are going to make this summer. This plan to bring in star power has been outlined for over a year. With $61 million in cap space, the Los Angeles Lakers set up for what could be a very eventful summer.

However, the eventful summer should not start and stop with potential superstars. While the Lakers definitely should be looking to add stars to the mix, there are some gaps to fill on the bench that may only be fillable through free agency.

Every contending team needs depth, hence why the Boston Celtics are dismantling the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James and Kevin Love are the two best players on the court, but the Celtics just have so much more depth and a great gameplan.

Especially with LeBron potentially coming to LA, the Lakers better start considering some free agents now. Luckily, we compiled our six favorites that you should keep an eye on this summer.

1. C Nerlens Noel

The potential for Nerlens Noel to be a Los Angeles Laker has already been addressed. Several months ago, rumors surfaced that Noel was a targeted running mate of LeBron’s to join him in Los Angeles.

Noel is an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career and has not been utilized by the Dallas Mavericks. After coming off of an injury, the market price for Noel is going to be much lower than it should be. Thus, the Lakers should be able to easily afford his contract.

Noel adds much-needed size and skill to a frontcourt that may rely on Ivica Zubac and Thomas Bryant to be the primary rebounders. Coming off of the bench, Noel is a low-risk, high reward signing.
