Los Angeles Lakers: Six potential free agent targets for depth
By Jason Reed
2. C Greg Monroe
The Los Angeles Lakers would be interested in pursuing Greg Monroe for all the same reasons as they would be for Nerlens Noel. Although there have not been any significant ties to Monroe as there could be with Noel, Monroe still accomplishes the goal of adding bench depth and size behind Julius Randle, who may play a hybrid center role.
Monroe has had quite the 2017-2018 season. He started the season on the Milwaukee Bucks, where he played five games before being traded to the Phoenix Suns in the Eric Bledsoe trade. He got more playing time there, 23.3 minutes per game, and lasted 20 games.
Finally, Monroe landed on the team he would play the most games with, the Boston Celtics. Monroe averaged 19.1 minutes per game for Boston and played at a similar level he did with the Suns.
Overall, Monroe averaged 10.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game in 20.4 minutes per game. Monroe proved in this whirlwind season that he can give the Lakers a consistent 10 points and flirt with 10 rebounds off the bench on a nightly basis.
That would be huge for the Los Angeles Lakers, who may be running a small-ball starting five, depending on who they land.
