Los Angeles Clippers: Post-Combine 2018 NBA Draft big board
By Jason Reed
2. Collin Sexton, PG, Alabama
Jonathan Wasserman Big Board ranking: 15
Collin Sexton is an extremely intriguing prospect for the Los Angeles Clippers with the 12th and 13th overall picks. With two back-to-back picks, if Sexton is on the board, it makes a ton of sense for the Clippers to pull the trigger and take the playmaker out of Alabama.
The future of the point guard position is unknown for the Clippers. Los Angeles does have Patrick Beverley on an expiring contract, which will likely turn into trade bait if the Clippers go full on rebuild.
After Beverley, there is Teodosic, who we previously mentioned as a playmaking guard. As good as Teodosic is, he needs to develop a more reliable start to keep up with today’s NBA point guards. A playmaking sixth man may be Teodosic’s ceiling in the NBA.
That is what makes Sexton so intriguing. His size, listed as six-foot-one at the combine, is the biggest downside of Sexton. However, he has the knack to get to the basket with a good shot that becomes dangerous as he heats up.
It will be interesting to see how he responds to adversity when he is not excelling at times at the NBA level. However, when he heats up, Sexton can go on a frenzy and put the defense down a ton before they even see it coming.
