3. Khyri Thomas, SG, Creighton

Tankathon has the Los Angeles Lakers taking Khyri Thomas in their NBA mock draft. And while that is s decent selection to make, the Lakers still have two other potential prospects that would fit the team much more than Thomas. If Thomas is the best guy available, then take him. If not, the Lakers should look to the two ahead of him on this list.

Thomas is a fine player. Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report has him one spot ahead of Jacob Evans as the 23rd-best prospect in the draft. This, of course, is right on line with where the Lakers are picking in the first round.

Like Evans, Thomas brings an off the bench, role-playing skill-set into the league. Thomas lacks the ability to be a true playmaker and will struggle to score in the NBA in isolation.

However, he can catch and shoot as he does have a good shot when he gets an open look; making him an off-ball scorer that could come in off the bench and hit two or threes per game.

Like Evans as well, Thomas brings good defense off the bench that will immediately make an impact in the second unit. With Lonzo Ball and presumably Paul George, Thomas and Josh Hart would give the Lakers arguably the best defensive backcourt in the NBA.

What gives Thomas the edge over Evans is his better shot. However, he is still not the best option for LA.
