Q: Would you rather the Los Angeles Dodgers lose the World Series in heartbreaking fashion or miss the postseason entirely?

This is one of those questions where it really depends how you look at the situation. From a pure fan standpoint, I am going to feel completely different than how I feel from an analyst standpoint. And quite frankly, my feelings around this are complex and I am not really entirely sure.

I have been saying since the 2017 World Series that I wished the Dodgers would have just stayed cold in September and never made it that far to break my heart. And while missing out on the playoffs would have been much easier to cope with, I would not have gotten the joy that I did get with them making it this far.

I have never had any of my professional sports teams make it to the championship. This was completely new to me. I was born 10 years after the Dodgers won it all in 1988, I could not even comprehend what it was like to make the World Series.

Whenever I look back I try to focus on that positive feeling over the absolute heartbreak that ensued in game seven. However, as much as I try to mask it, I still get pretty upset daily thinking about last season.

That is in the past though and now I am trying to turn my focus towards this season. I would not change what happened last year as it gave the team a taste of winning and will fuel the young core of the Dodgers to make that same push for many more years.

However, if I had to choose this year between missing the playoffs or returning to the World Series and losing again in seven games, I am choosing the former. Get some rest, get healthy and get back at it next year.
