The Los Angeles Lakers main focus may be on the 25th overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft. However, the 47th overall pick also holds some value.

The Los Angeles Lakers, despite having no lottery pick for the first time in five years, can still make an impact in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Lakers’ front office has done an excellent job at drafting in recent years and should be able to pick up a difference maker with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 25th overall pick.

While it will be no superstar, it is imperative that the Lakers turn to the draft to help a roster that is alarmingly thin at shooting guard and center. While center may be a stretch, there should be plenty of great shooting guard available by the time pick 25 rolls around.

However, while they are not as important as they are in other drafts, second-round picks can also have some value for NBA franchises. While there are fewer good players coming out of the second round than other major sports, the Lakers can still find a difference maker.

Jordan Clarkson was selected in the second round with the 46th overall pick in 2014. Other notable second-round picks in the last several years include Draymond Green (2012) and Malcolm Brogdon (2016).

Thus, while the chances are slim, the Los Angeles Lakers can conceivably pick up a difference maker in the second-round of the 2018 NBA Draft.

Here are three players that should fall that far on draft day with a chance to make a difference.
