The NFL offseason is entering its’ closing stages with just a select group of guys still available on the market. The Los Angeles Chargers should take an extra look at these five.

Unlike the team’s LA counterpart, the Los Angeles Rams, the Los Angeles Chargers have not been busy when it comes to free agent splashes this offseason.

The team’s two biggest moves came in signing former Eagles’ kicker Caleb Sturgis to aid the disastrous kicking game. Additionally, the Chargers also brought in Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey as the final piece to what should be a great offensive line.

Aside from that, the Los Angeles Chargers have not made any huge moves. Picking up safety Derwin James in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft was huge, but James practically fell into the Chargers’ lap.

It is not too late for the Los Angeles Chargers to make another move for a free agent. While all the polarizing free agents have long been signed, the Chargers could add some helpful additions in this late stage of free agency.

With that being said, here are five players that are still available that would fit the Los Angeles Chargers roster.

Connor Barwin, OLB

Coming from the Los Angeles Rams, Connor Barwin may be interested in signing with the Chargers to stay local.

For the Chargers, this signing makes sense as the team needs linebacker help wherever they can get it.

Although the biggest need may be a solid interior linebacker that can help stop the run, Connor Barwin is the perfect defensive end/linebacker hybrid that would help the Chargers in short yardage situations stop runs to the outside.

The team drafted outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu to serve this role. Right now, the Chargers also have Denzel Perryman and Kyle Emanuel to help in that regard as well.

However, Perryman may eventually make the inevitable move to middle linebacker, leaving just Emanuel on the other side. Instead of tasking Emanuel with the entire workload, who is decent at best, the Chargers could add great depth by bringing in Barwin on what should be a discounted rate at this point.

Outside linebacker is not a necessity at this point, however, Connor Barwin would open some fun doors for the Chargers.
