With the AL West becoming one of the most highly contested division races in the game, we ask our baseball contributors “Would You Rather the Angels trade for a reliever or a starter to stay in contention with the Mariners and Astros?”

Welcome to the wild west. In downtown LA we have the Dodgers, who are dangerously close to first place, and just south-east of them we have the Los Angeles Angels, who are falling behind in the division but show no signs of falling out of contention. I mean, can a team with Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Albert Pujols and Justin Upton ever be truly out of the race?

We’re about to find out.

The Astros are very much in contention; they are still the favorites to win that division, but the Mariners are starting to heat up. James Paxton threw a no-hitter in May, and Jean Segura, Mitch Haniger, and Edwin Diaz are leading that team. Though I’m not sure the Mariners recent dominance will last, they sure going to make the wild card race more interesting. And that is a race the Angels plan to be right in the middle of.

I haven’t counted out the Angels yet, and neither should you. Anything could happen; we haven’t even reached the All-Star break yet.

So, as the Angels  look to bridge the five-game division deficit they currently face, we ask our team of baseball contributors “Would you rather the Angels trade for a reliever or a starter in order to stay in contention?”

Let’s discuss.
