The Los Angeles Lakers will enter the 2018 NBA offseason with one huge void at the shooting guard position.

Regardless of the moves the Los Angeles Lakers make this summer, the team should be looking to add a shooting guard from free agency. Even if the Lakers sign Paul George and/or draft a shooting guard in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft, the front office should be exploring all possibilities.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is hitting the open market. After making $18 million on a one-year deal last year, the chances of him re-signing with LA for a reasonable price seem slim. Thus, the Lakers are left with just Josh Hart, who is more of a combo guard that is better at point guard, as the team’s primary shooting guard.

That is not a great situation to be in and if the Lakers want to build a reputable contender, they are going to have to add bench pieces that can contribute at a decent level. Of all the positions, a shooting guard may be the first the Lakers look at.

Luckily for the Lakers front office, there are a lot of unrestricted free agent shooting guards available this offseason. Even better, there are quite a few solid options that shouldn’t cost the Lakers an arm and a leg.

While there certainly are more options available, we compiled our four favorite free agent shooting guards that could help the Lakers fill their current roster void.
