2. Marco Belinelli

Marco Belinelli was a huge trade pick-up for the Philadelphia 76ers this season. Belinelli helped bolster a thin 76ers’ bench as well as add more three-point shooting into the mix. More importantly, adding him also added the experience that only J.J. Redick had going into the postseason. Typically, experience is key.

That was not the case this postseason, though, as the 76ers got outmatched by the well-coached, injury-ridden Boston Celtics. However, to give the Celtics credit, the young guys were playing phenomenal and were one game away from going to the NBA Championship.

Now, Belinelli hits the open market as a free agent and is likely going to walk away from the 76ers. With talks of LeBron James, Paul George or even Kawhi Leonard coming to Philadelphia, Belinelli really does not fit the 76ers’ game plan this offseason.

That leaves him open for the taking, potentially heading from one young core to the next with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Depending who the Lakers pick up, Belinelli could serve as the team’s starting shooting guard with a rookie guard playing behind him. If the Lakers land Paul George, they may play him at the two, bring Belinelli off the bench and draft a center.

Regardless, Belinelli brings that same experience he brought to Philadelphia, now knowing what it is like to be a veteran on a young team. Even better, Belinelli will help the Lakers’ awful three-point percentage.
