Los Angeles Lakers: Updated best fits for Isaiah Thomas this summer
By Jason Reed
Los Angeles Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas is a free agent and likely will not be re-signed. Thus, we take a look at the updated best fits for Thomas this summer.
Isaiah Thomas is one of the most intriguing names hitting the free agent market this summer. Were Thomas to hit the market last season he likely would have been in for a max contract.
However, after a pretty bad tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers and a decent showing with the Los Angeles Lakers, Thomas’ value is hard to pinpoint. He has proven that he can still produce in the right system at a consistent level. However, he has also proven that he can struggle if the system is not built around his skill set.
He is hard to hide on defense and teams may have figured out how to exploit his height. Plus, let’s not forget, his injury history is not a good sign for any team.
Yet still, there likely will be many teams lining up to give Thomas a contract this summer. That could be a large one-year deal to avoid a long-term commitment and give Thomas a chance to prove his worth. Or, it could be a long, not so large contract that at least gives Thomas security.
Or a team could pony up and give Thomas a max deal. I highly doubt that would happen, but we have seen worse contracts in the NBA.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the three best fits for Isaiah Thomas this summer.
