With the NBA season officially over, the LeBron James saga is in full effect. In honor of the LeBron to the Lakers rumors, we will distinguish why LA is James’ best new option.

Cleveland Cavaliers fans probably saw LeBron James play his last game as a member of the Cavaliers. With a supporting cast that does not do much supporting and virtually no more flexibility, James and the Cavaliers have likely met the end of the road.

While James theoretically could remain loyal and stay in Cleveland, the chances are unlikely. Thus, a saga similar to 2010 and 2014 has emerged; every team looking to make its own recruiting pitch to the King himself.

It is a tad ironic that James is going through this once again in an exact four-year cycle. LeBron called his going away to Miami as college for him to learn and bring a title to Cleveland. After winning just one in four years, the next chapter of his career may have the “if you cannot beat them, join them” mentality.

James is going to have to craft a truly special team to outlast a Golden State Warriors team that boasts Kevin Durant. With that in mind, despite virtually every team being interested in James, there are a select few destinations that stand out.

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of them and the Lakers rumors around James have been heavy the entire season. The Houston Rockets, who took the Warriors to seven games in the Western Conference Finals, are another potential landing spot.

Throughout the coming weeks, we are going to distinguish why the Lakers are the best new home for LeBron, eliminating certain teams in the process — starting with the Rockets.
