Lakers Rumors: Why LA is better for LeBron James than Houston
By Jason Reed
3. Los Angeles is better for LeBron’s career and personal life
It is no secret that LeBron James resides in Los Angeles during the offseason. It is also no secret that Los Angeles provides some of the best opportunities in sports. From movie gigs to building a sports empire like Lakers President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson, LA can be the gateway to great things.
And while LeBron is certainly chasing titles, he also has the rest of his life and his family to think about. This decision is more than just basketball and James is not going to move his kids to Utah or Denver if he thinks that is the best basketball fit.
In fact, former teammate and close friend Dwyane Wade thinks that LeBron’s decision will be a “lifestyle” choice. On Fox Sports Radio show, Chris and Caron, Wade said the following: (h/t Sporting News).
"“I think at this point in his life it’s more so of a lifestyle thing. Where is my family going to be the most comfortable at? Where am I going to be the happiest at? Because basketball-wise he’s so great, he can take along whoever.”"
He likely will find the perfect balance between his career and his personal life. Luckily, there is a place that has mostly pros in both areas, which should make the decision easy. That decision is Los Angeles.
James not only is making a family decision in this regards, but he does not have to take “whoever” to the promise land. The Lakers have a very promising core that is ready to compete now. Add in that much-wanted flexibility and this is seemingly a no-brainer.

Houston simply does not provide that, unless there is something we do not know about James’ personal life and the city of Houston (which is definitely possible). Regardless, the Lakers rumors around James are justified, at least over the Houston Rockets.
