3. Tre Boston

The Los Angeles Chargers could still sign Tre Boston, who remains unsigned despite having a stellar year in Los Angeles last season. And while the team seemingly replaced Boston in the draft by picking up the very solid Derwin James, keeping Boston to play some role in some capacity is much better than letting him walk for free.

It may be a role issue where Boston does not want to take a depth role and wants to be the every-down starter at free safety. That makes sense, as Boston was one of the best and most overlooked safeties in the game last season.

However, after going this long without being signed, the Chargers could get Boston back at a discounted rate and can use him in nickel and dime packages or in certain matchups where he is favored over James or Jahleel Addae.

Plus, it never hurts to have too much depth at a position. Injuries are inevitable at football and having that security blanket in Boston when there is not much solid talent behind the starting unit, is huge.

At this point, the chances of the Chargers re-signing Boston are better than they have been but are still pretty slim. When the going gets tough throughout the 2018 season, fans will be thinking about Boston and his five interceptions from the year prior.
