Last time Bartolo Colon was in Los Angeles he was a member of the Minnesota Twins. Now, he gets the start against the Dodgers for the Texas Rangers.

Bartolo Colon is an MLB legend. While he may never get into Cooperstown, he has become an MLB cult icon. Everybody loves Bartolo Colon, even fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Dodgers fans are going to have to put their admiration for Colon to the side tonight as he gets the start for the Rangers. Against the Dodgers in his 21-year career, against many different lineups, Colon has a 2-6 record and 5.28 ERA.

The last time Colon faced the Dodgers was in Chavez Ravine on July 24, 2017. Colon was making his second start as a member of the Twins. Colon did ok, allowing three earned runs over five innings with two strikeouts.

The Dodgers are going to look to replicate the eight hits they got off Colon a year ago, which should bode well for extending our Dodgers Beat the Streak hitting streaks.

The team was able to extend our streaks on Sunday as both of our selections got a hit. My pick, Enrique Hernandez, went 2-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Sarah’s pick, Chris Taylor, went 1-3 with two walks.

Sarah’s pick — Current streak 1: Matt Kemp

My pick for tonight in the series opener against the Rangers is Matt Kemp. This series is going to be very interesting, as the Rangers rarely play at the Ravine.

On the mound for Texas is the legendary Bartolo Colon. He’s been a little shaky but has had a pretty good season. The Ranger, however, had had an unforgiving first half of the season. They’re 16 games back from first, and 14 games below .500. They’ve lost 4 in a row, and carry that streak into Dodger Stadium, where they’ll face a strong lineup led by Matt Kemp and Max Muncy.

I think that Kemp is going to get at least one knock in tonight’s opener against Texas as the Dodgers open a 2 game set against the rivals of the team who beat them last November.

Jason’s pick — Current streak 2: Yasiel Puig

Last time the Dodgers faced Bartolo Colon Yasiel Puig went 2-2 against the veteran with a single, a triple and a run scored. Puig was part of a three-run fifth inning that included two home runs, a triple and two singles that ultimately chased Colon out of the game.

That 2-2 outing broke a 0-10 streak against Bartolo Colon for the Wild Horse. While that may seem concerning, Colon’s stuff has obviously lost a lot of its juice and his fastballs are the perfect bread and butter pitch for Puig to smash a long, long home run off of.

Next: Starlin Castro is a great trade candidate

That is what I think we will see out of Puig tonight. Colon will leave a two-seam fastball right over the middle of the plate to which Puig will blast halfway into the left-field pavilion.
