For the first time in 2018, the Los Angeles Dodgers are set to face San Francisco Giants’ ace, Madison Bumgarner.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, fresh off a 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants, are facing the rivaled Madison Bumgarner at home for the first time this season.

Baseball fans are finally getting the Bumgarner-Dodgers matchup that was supposed to happen on Opening Day. While Clayton Kershaw may not be on the bump, Alex Wood is a solid alternative that hopefully will pitch a great game to keep it close for LA.

Winning tonight would guarantee a fifth straight series win for the Dodgers and would extend the team’s streak to nine series without a loss. The only non-win for the Dodgers was a 2-2 split against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Yesterday, both of our streaks remained in place as we both went with Cody Bellinger. Bellinger got the night off and did not register an at-bat, thus, our streaks did not move.

Sarah’s pick — Current streak 1: Enrique Hernandez

Get ready, because for the first time all season, the Dodgers will face Madison Bumgarner, the Giants’ ace. This season, he’s 0-1 with a 4.76 ERA, and is still getting in the grove of the season after missing the first two months of 2018 with a broken finger.

The Dodgers, however, are as hot as they have ever been and Bumgarner is facing an uphill battle. So, that being said, I am going with the current Dodger that has the single highest average against MadBum in his career; Kiké Hernandez.

In 30 AB’s against the Giant’s southpaw, Hernandez is hitting just under .500 and has hit it out three times against the former World Series MVP. Hernandez has been on fire lately, and though he hit it out in last night’s 3-2 win over the Dodgers’ rivals, Hernandez has a thing for hitting the ball out of the park a lot in a small period of time.

Though I’m not sure he will launch one into the parking lot, he may add to the 6RBIs he already has against tonight’s starter for SF.

Tonight’s matchup isn’t the classic Bumgarner vs. Kershaw that fans flock out by the thousands to bear witness to, but with the way the Dodgers have been playing lately, it’s pretty close.

Jason’s pick — Current streak 4: Yasiel Puig

I also wanted to go with Hernandez, however, I did not want to go two straight days by picking the same player as Sarah. Thus, instead of going with the hitter that is the best against Bumgarner, I am going with #PuigYourFriend himself.

Yasiel Puig and Madison Bumgarner have a pretty rough history and are not necessarily the best of friends. Bumgarner, more than Puig, seems to take exception to his counterpart.

Next: The hypocrisy of suspending Kemp

Puig is decent against Bumgarner, not great. For his career, Puig is 10-41 against the southpaw with two doubles and two home runs. While his line may not be as good as Hernandez’, something tells me that #PuigYourFriend is going to have a huge night.
