Los Angeles Lakers: Draft prospects to stay away from in the first round
By Jason Reed
1. Grayson Allen, SG, Duke
Grayson Allen is one of the most beloved Duke players in the history of the organization. As a matter of fact, Allen is probably the most liked prospect heading into the 2018 NBA Draft.
Okay, time to stop joking.
Anyone that knows Grayson Allen also knows that he fit the moniker of a hated Duke player to a tee. Allen played like he was entitled and was involved in tripping incidents that did not give him the best reputation as a player. While Allen calmed down in his senior season, the attitude issues are still a worry.
Allen definitely is talented and can be a solid role player as early as his rookie season. Playing four years at Duke also is promising for a team like the Lakers, who should be looking for prospects as close to the final version as possible.
However, there are simply too many great alternatives that can give the Lakers the same level of production as Allen that the team simply shouldn’t even bother with any potential headaches that would come with Allen.
Just imagine Allen not passing to Lonzo Ball in a critical situation and LaVar starts publically bashing Allen. Allen does not seem like the type to back down and that would just be a mess. Although entertaining.
