The ten best teams in Los Angeles Dodgers history
By Jason Reed
6. 2017: 104-58 (Lost World Series)
The 2017 Los Angeles Dodgers were one win away from probably being the number one ranked team on this list. 2017’s version of the Dodgers won 104 games, tied for the second-most in team history, and walked their way to the World Series going a combined 7-1 in the National League side of the postseason.
At one point in the season, it looked like the Dodgers were going to challenge for the MLB all-time wins record. The Dodgers simply could not lose in the summer and put together a 55-11 run from June 7 to August 25. The Dodgers had 91 wins on August 25 and were on pace for 116 wins.
Then the Dodgers went ice cold in the beginning of September and were only able to win 13 of their last 35 games. Despite finishing 13-22, the Dodgers still escaped with an 11-game lead in the division.
Of course, you likely know that this team was filled with breakout players and veterans alike. You could also name every single player that had an impact last year. Here are the biggest standouts from 2017:
- Justin Turner
- Corey Seager
- Cody Bellinger
- Chris Taylor
- Yasmani Grandal
- Yasiel Puig
- Clayton Kershaw
- Alex Wood
- Rich Hill
- Kenley Jansen
- Brandon Morrow
That is only naming the biggest contributors of the team. The 2017 Los Angeles Dodgers were magical. Good thing the 2018 Dodgers are finally picking up some steam.
