4. 1953: 105-49 (Lost World Series)

The 1953 season was the best year in terms of wins and winning percentage for the Dodgers. The 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers won 105 games in a 154-game season that would have amounted for 110 wins in a full, 162-game season.

All the 1953 Dodgers had to do was win the World Series and this easily would have been the best team in franchise history and one of the best teams that the MLB has ever seen. However, as we have already seen, the Brooklyn Dodgers fell to the New York Yankees in six games in the World Series. New York was 99-52 that season.

Brooklyn was a whole six games better than the Yankees in the regular season and was a whole 12 games better than any other National League team. However, the team could not win it all despite boasting a roster that included:

This team was special and had all the makings to be the best team in franchise history. However, much like the 2017 Dodgers that came 54 years later, the 1953 Dodgers ultimately could not get it done.
