The history of the Los Angeles Lakers is defined by different stretches of dynasties. Here are those dynasties, ranked in terms of legacy.

Some of the biggest names to ever play in the NBA have suited up in the purple and gold. The Los Angeles Lakers boast many, many Hall of Famers throughout the team’s history as well as some of the most talented teams that have ever shared a basketball court.

An NBA franchise does not win 16 titles by accident; the Lakers have consistently bred excellence and have created some of the best dynasties in the history of the sport. From superstar to superstar, somehow the Lakers have maintained a status of success that never faltered.

The team’s current five-year playoff drought matches the number of times the Lakers had missed the playoffs prior. From 1948 to 2013 the Lakers missed the playoffs five times. That is incredible.

There are very few dynasties in NBA history that can compare to the Lakers. The Michael Jordan Bulls, the Bill Russell Celtics, the Larry Bird Celtics and the modern day Golden State Warriors can be mentioned in the same breath.

Aside from that, it is hard to find NBA dynasties that measure up to the multiple dynasties the Lakers have created.

With that being said, we have to compare the dynasties to each other. In terms of legacy, here are the five distinct Lakers’ dynasties ranked in order.
