1. Showtime Lakers (Five titles, nine appearances)

The Showtime Lakers are not only the best dynasty in Los Angeles Lakers history but are one of the most talented collections of players that the league has ever seen. Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy are all legends in their own right and together serve as a big three that trumps any big three today.

When you think about the best players to ever do it, Johnson and Abdul-Jabbar both come to mind. Johnson is easily a top-three point guard all-time and to many people is probably the greatest point guard to ever do it.

Abdul-Jabbar is up there with Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain as the best big men to ever do it. To some, Russell may be the second or third greatest all-time, but the case can really be made for Abdul-Jabbar. The all-time leader in points has the stats, the accolades and the pure dominance that matches Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Russell.

This team fielded two players that undoubtedly belong in the top-10 all-time and it could be argued that both belong in the top-five as well. Let’s not forget about James Worthy, either, who is a top-10 small forward all-time and could have shot farther up the all-time ranks if he was the face of his own team.

I would put the Showtime Lakers against any team in NBA history and be confident that they have a great chance to win. While they did lose four times in the NBA Finals, when they were all clicking, they were one of the best teams to ever do it.
