Dodgers Fall to Rockies, Look to Rebound in Game 2
After a night in which the Dodgers fought hard but fell to their division rivals, they look to bounce back against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.
Well, you can’t win them all. That is something the Dodgers are dealing with now. Even though they have been good, as in setting the franchise record for home runs good, they’ve still been losing. This isn’t like last year when the Dodgers won virtually every game they played and managed to shock us all when another team actually bested them.
The Dodgers are still losing games, but after a season when they won nearly every game but lost the one that mattered the most, are we really all that upset?
I am a very superstitious person. I’m not a little stitious, like Michael Scott in The Office, I am sometimes a “don’t wash the lucky shirt until it stops being lucky” type of fan. So, the way I figure it, as long as the Dodgers win enough games to get into the postseason, I’m more than okay with them saving all that magic for October.
Last night, however, the Rockies got the best of our beloved Dodgers. Tyler Anderson pitched great; Rich Hill pitched well. Both of Jason and my picks got hits, extending our streaks as we head into Saturday.
Speaking of Saturday, here is who we think will get the Dodgers on the board against German Márquez and the Rockies.
Jason’s Pick: Current Streak-1: Justin Turner
I’m currently writing this while eating lunch as Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Let’s keep this short and sweet and go with the best hitter on the team, Justin Turner.
Sarah’s Pick: Current Streak-10: Joc Pederson
Alright, so my streak is at 10 and I too and surprised. Pretty much it just means that the Dodgers are hitting so, high fives all around. My pick for today is Joc Pederson. Pederson, as it happens, is my favorite Dodger, and also happens to have 2 home runs in 7AB’s vs. tonight’s starter for the Rockies. Of course, I am not picking Pederson simply because one of my favorite players, but because he has had a monster June.
In 74 AB’s this month, he has hit one less home run (10) than times he has struck out (11) and has knocked in 17. Moreover, he’s been far more patient at the plate, taking his walks. In fact, he is on pace to easily surpass is walk total from last season (39), as he currently has 24 on the year.
Joc Pederson, like Matt Kemp and Max Muncy, has become such an underrated asset for this team. Last season, he was sent down to the minors to work on his swing.

I think it’s safe to say that after a June like he’s had, the Joc Pederson of 2015 has returned.
