Dodgers Beat the Streak: Can Ross Stripling Get it Done For LA?
After a game in which the Dodgers were bested by the Rockies, they look to bounce back with Ross Stripling on the mound to avoid getting swept.
Alright, so the Dodgers haven’t been playing bad baseball, but they haven’t been playing great baseball. I think that playing great baseball means you’re winning, and bad baseball means you’re losing. The team, I think, is playing good baseball. They aren’t winning every game, but aren’t losing every game either. Most of the games they have lost have been close ones, and they’re losing to good teams.
But, I could write this anyway I want, using as many positive adjectives as possible and it still won’t change the facts; the Dodgers need more, and they need it now.
It’s hard to picture LA needing help after a month in which they tied the record for homers hit in June, but they do. Like I said before, the games they’ve been losing have been close ones, but the only reason they are losing those games in the first place is because the ‘late-inning-heroics’ we have come to know and love are nowhere to be seen.
The Dodgers need a little bit more to turn those close losses into wins. Whether that person is another reliever, another starter or Manny Machado (more on that later) the Dodgers need someone. Whoever it may be.
That said, I don’t expect the front office to make any big moves yet, so until then, here’s who Jason and I think will get a hit or two today against Nolan Arenado and the Rockies.
Jason’s Pick: Current Streak-0: Cody Bellinger
All the Dodgers have been able to do recently is hit solo home runs. With that in mind, I am going with the guy that is the most likely to hit a solo home run off Chad Bettis, Cody Bellinger.
Sarah’s Pick: Current Streak-0: Max Muncy
Yesterday, my streak ended at 10 as German Márquez utterly dominated the Dodgers. So today I am going with someone who has been absolutely amazing all season, with the hopes of getting my streak, and the Dodgers’ offense, going again.
It’s not difficult to see why Muncy is the guy I’m picking for today’s series finale. He leads the team in home runs with 17 and has become a massive threat at the plate. He’s the guy none of us saw coming, but boy aren’t we all glad he’s here.
The Rockies are good, but so are the Dodgers. The Dodgers, rather, are great, they just need to find their way back to who they were when they were caught up in their winning ways.

Max Muncy could be the guy who leads them there.
