Los Angeles Lakers: Constructing the perfect offseason
By Jason Reed
1. Sign LeBron James
Well, duh.
I do not really understand people that do not want to see LeBron James come to the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron would make the Lakers instant title contenders, something the team has been without since Kobe Bryant’s health slowly faded.
The idea of being upset that a player is bringing a team a ring, especially a team you cheer for, is so crazy to me. Who cares if someone is a Kobe fan and hates LeBron, the man will bring you rings.
With LeBron James often comes other superstars into the fold as well. James is not simply going to jump ship to the Lakers without some master plan in mind; hence why signing LeBron has to be the first thing the Lakers do.
Bringing in LeBron instantly makes the Lakers the most lucrative team to join in free agency. Los Angeles would still have cap space, has the natural appeal of playing in Los Angeles and seems to be a stable ship ran by Magic Johnson.
LeBron James it the key to lock many doors toward success for the Los Angeles Lakers. Can the team eventually win a ring down the line without James on the roster? Maybe. Could the team win as soon as year one with James (and the rest of the moves on this list)? Absolutely.
