Center Mitchell Robinson

  • Actual selection: New York Knicks (36th overall)

Mitchell Robinson was a huge risk going into the 2018 NBA Draft and no team was willing to use a first-round selection on the promising big man. However, the New York Knicks did take the risk on Robinson, who could emerge as the best second-round pick in the entire draft.

The frontcourt of Robinson and Kristaps Porzingis can potentially be the best in the league. Robinson is the dominant shot blocking center that can hog all the rebounds while Porzingis will act as the big to stretch the floor as well as act as the primary scorer.

The Los Angeles Lakers should have selected Robinson for all of the same reasons that they should of selected Williams. He could have given the team a much better outlook at the center position and could have been one of the league’s best in doing so.

Robinson was one of the best prospects entering college and would have likely been a lottery pick, had he played. Instead, Robinson decided to sit the season out and prepare for the draft after the NCAA slapped Robinson with ineligibility last season.

Of course, it is risky picking a prospect without any college or international experience. And while it may take some time for Robinson to fully develop, once he is, he is going to be special.
