3. Signing JaVale McGee

JaVale McGee, much like Lance Stephenson, is a player that may not have an elite level of talent but is going to play a role with the Lakers next season. If this deal was for more than one year, I probably would not like it. However, for just one season, McGee is a good signing for the Los Angeles Lakers to make.

The most obvious contribution he is going to have is production-wise at the center position. Prior to this move, and even now, the Lakers are very thin at center and needed a big, rim-protecting center that could rebound the basketball.

McGee will be on the receiving ends of some LeBron James lobs, which will be fun to watch. However, he will likely not have a huge impact on the offensive side of things.

Where McGee becomes really valuable is cracking the code that is the Golden State Warriors. McGee is more than familiar with the Warriors and will give James and company an insight on how they tick and what it takes to overcome the juggernaut.

While this may not lead to a title in year one, it will give LeBron James and company a great baseline of what to do for the remaining three years of his contract.
