Los Angeles Rams: Five Madden 19 player ratings that are wrong
By Jason Reed
QB Jared Goff — Rating: 83
I get that the rating makers want to leave enough room for players to grow into higher overalls if they are performing well throughout the season. I also get that the one great season out of Jared Goff is not enough to put him among the best quarterbacks in the league; the sample size is small.
However, an 83 rating is still a bit low and Goff should be hirer up on the quarterback rankings when the game releases. When you take a look at other quarterback ratings, it is hard to deny that Goff should be a little higher on the list.
Goff has the same rating as Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo definitely looks the part and is one of the most promising young quarterbacks in football. However, a good half season somehow puts him on the same level as Goff, who threw for 4000 yards last season.
Heck, rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield was granted an 81 overall rating despite not touching an NFL field. I get that the Madden team wants to give the first overall pick a good rating, but Mayfield has not proved anything.
He easily could have been picked with the third overall pick instead of the first overall pick and he would probably be a 78 rating.
Goff does not deserve to be in the elite class of quarterbacks. However, he should at least be on the same level as Matthew Stafford.
