Los Angeles Chargers: Three questions entering preseason week 1
By Jason Reed
The NFL is finally back and the Los Angeles Chargers are looking to capitalize on a season where the expectations from the fans are at an all-time high.
The Los Angeles Chargers have been picking up steam as the popular dark horse to watch out for heading into the 2018-2019 NFL season. Despite missing the playoffs the last four seasons, the Chargers have built one of the best all-around rosters. And boy, are they going to be fun to watch.
The offense is about as high-powered as it can get, led by future Hall of Fame quarterback Philip Rivers. The receiving corps of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin has the potential to blossom into the best in the league. Running back Melvin Gordon is also easily a top seven or eight running back.
Defensively, the Chargers are stout. Los Angeles boasts the best exterior pass-rush in the league with the scary duo of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. Mix that with a scary secondary that was one of the hardest to throw against last season and opposing teams will not be passing the ball for much success against the Chargers.
The team’s biggest weakness is stopping the run but that should be improved with a healthy Denzel Perryman and second-round pick, Uchenna Nwosu.
Overall, the Chargers are very promising heading into this new season and the team’s first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. Here are three questions that are yet to be answered, and we will begin to get a feel for, as that game is underway.
