The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off of a great, much-needed 8-5 win over the Colorado Rockies and will continue the slugging ways into Friday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers-Colorado Rockies game was nearly a disaster for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After slugging two pinch-hit home runs in the top of the seventh to gain a 3-1 lead, Dodgers reliever Pedro Baez allowed four runs to put the team down, 5-3. After two quick outs in the top of the eighth, hope was beginning to fade.

That was until Matt Kemp roped a double off the base of the left-center wall and Cody Bellinger followed with a huge two-run home run the ensuing pitch. Two more home runs in the ninth inning and the Dodgers took an 8-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning.

While we certainly do not want to exaggerate, a loss here for the Los Angeles Dodgers could have had a pretty negative effect. It would have taken the momentum from the team and given the Rockies a shot at the sweep.

There are obviously still three games to play, however, this win is as huge for the Dodgers as it would have been for the Rockies.

Sarah and I also had our own victories last night as our two Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak picks, Justin Turner and Matt Kemp, both found the hit column.

Sarah’s pick — Current streak 4: Brian Dozier

My pick for tonight against Colorado is Brian Dozier. Dozier has been absolutely amazing since being traded over from the Twins. He plays an elite second base and he can drive the ball oh so far.

In fact, as I write this, Dozier has just hit a 2-run shot in Colorado. What timing. Brian Dozier has been the spark this offense needed.

If you told me on Opening Day that by mid-August, the Dodgers would be without Corey Seager, but with Manny Machado and Brian Dozier, I would totally believe you because it sounds like the exact kind of game plan the Dodgers would construct.

Having played in the AL Central his entire career, Dozier isn’t exactly used to playing in the thin air of Colorado. He was able to hit homers in LA, just imagine what he, and fellow slugger Manny Machado, can do in Denver.

Jason’s pick — Current streak 4: Yasmani Grandal

Yasmani Grandal is notorious for getting cold in the month of August but with a right-handed pitcher on the mound and the thin air of Colorado, something tells me that we are going to see another bat drop out of Grandal tonight.

Whether it is a deep blast to center field or something that finds the short upper deck in right field, Grandal is going to get a fastball low in the zone that he likes and is going to unload on it.

Coors Field is unforgiving for pitchers and the Dodger bats need to do everything possible to get Kenta Maeda the run support he needs. His batterymate is going to be one of the main factors giving him support.
