After dropping Friday night’s contest by a score of four runs to five, the Los Angeles Dodgers enter a favorable matchup against Kyle Freeland.

The Los Angeles Dodgers offense did all it could to try and secure a win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night, but to no avail. While the offense was able to overcome a 1-3 deficit, the bullpen ultimately squandered the lead and the Dodger victory.

It was Zac Rosscup that allowed all of the damage out of the bullpen. After striking out to batters to end the sixth inning, Rosscup surrendered a two-run home run that ultimately put the Rockies up in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Dodgers were unable to capture the same magic as the night before.

While hitting statistics are certainly swayed at Coors Field, it was nice to see the bats come alive for a second straight game. What was the most promising was the performances from Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy, who both went 3-4; Muncy also slugging a home run.

This is good news considering Bellinger has not been able to recapture his rookie year magic and Muncy has been a shell of his former self since the All-Star Break. Coors Field may provide some help but they could use all the help they get.

Neither Sarah or I selected either of the left-handed hitters with our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak selections. Only one of us extended our streak.

I was the lucky one on Friday night as my pick, Yasmani Grandal, went 1-5 on the night with an RBI single in the first innings. Sarah and her selection, Brian Dozier, were not as fortunate. Dozier went 0-3 with a walk on the night.

Sarah is going to sit out of today’s selection but she will be back tomorrow so I need to take advantage while I can.

Jason’s pick — Current Streak 5: Justin Turner

The Los Angeles Dodgers are familiar with Colorado southpaw Kyle Freeland. Although Freeland is very talented, the Dodgers often hit Freeland pretty well. In five starts against the Dodgers, Freeland is 1-3 with a 4.26 ERA.

Leading the way for the Dodgers, at least as far as matchups are concerned, is Justin Turner. Turner has the most hits off of Freeland, eight, and historically hit him well.

Turner is 8-14 in his lifetime against Freeland with three doubles.

While that does not guarantee anything, it does seem like a safe pick to select someone that gets a hit in over half their plate appearances against the opposing pitcher. All we need is one.
