The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered one of the worst losses of the season on Saturday and now look to split a four-game series with the Rockies.

Ouch, last night really hurt. With a two-run lead and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, most fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers probably felt fairly comfortable with a win, especially considering the team had neutralized the Colorado Rockies to that point.

At the plate was .244 hitter, Ryan McMahon. McMahon did not pose a huge threat in the box and increased the confidence of the fans.

However, there is no Kenley Jansen, who will miss up to a month due to an irregular heartbeat. His health is most important and far more important than these games, obviously, but this is a huge loss to a bullpen that has been up and down.

And sure enough, McMahon lined the ball to right-center field where it just narrowly tucked over the yellow home run line and the Los Angeles Dodgers walked off the field with a 3-2 loss.

After a loss like that, the bats really need to come out and win a statement game. Losing three of four games to the Rockies is huge for the current division race.

However, yesterday was not all terrible as I was able to extend my Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak hitting streak. That has not happened often and I have not gotten a streak this high in quite some time.

Justin Turner went 2-4 on the night to extend my streak to a modest six games. Today, Sarah is back to make her pick.

Sarah’s pick — Current streak 5: Brian Dozier

My pick for today is Brian Dozier. Dozier had a great day yesterday, especially on the defensive end. Though last night’s loss was a tough one, the Dodgers are going to have to shake it off and try to rebound in Colorado.

Dozier has been absolutely elite since arriving in LA and he could be the guy the Dodgers need to get a series split with Colorado.

Jason’s pick — Current streak 6: Manny Machado

On the mound for the Colorado Rockies is Chad Bettis, who boasts a 5-2 record and 5.67 ERA this season.

As previously mentioned, the Los Angeles Dodgers need a statement win today to not only even the tide of the series but to gain some momentum back after what should have been a victory.

Leading the way for the Dodgers is going to Manny Machado, who is going to have his first truly great game as a Dodger. He has shown flashes of greatness and has produced, but tonight, he is going to put it all together in a big way.

I expect a long ball out of Machado at the very least. Any base hit will do but the home run would be great.
