Predicting the Los Angeles Lakers record against each team in 2018-19
By Jason Reed
Atlantic Division:
Boston Celtics: 0-2
The Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers rivalry is beginning a new chapter with LeBron James squaring off against Kyrie Irving. Boston has the obvious talent advantage heading into next season and with Brad Stevens coaching should be able to go on the road and steal a game, especially with Irving and Gordon Hayward healthy.
Brooklyn Nets: 2-0
The Brooklyn Nets are not a very good basketball team and LeBron James and company should have no problem beating former Laker D’Angelo Russell not once but twice.
New York Knicks: 2-0
If the New York Knicks could build up some credibility this would be a great matchup to watch; the United States’ two biggest markets going at it. However, Kristaps Porzingis and company will not be enough to overcome the Lakers; if he is even back by then.
Philadelphia 76ers: 1-1
The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the front-runners for LeBron James and would have presented a very similar young core. However, James opted for the bright lights of LA and will now only see the 76ers twice a year, in which they will split one game apiece.
Toronto Raptors: 0-2
If Kawhi Leonard is healthy and is playing, I genuinely think the Raptors are going to take both games from the Lakers. The Raptors are very deep, have a good point guard in Kyle Lowry and have the LeBron-stopper in Kawhi Leonard.
