The Los Angeles Dodgers lost Saturday night’s contest against the Seattle Mariners, 5-4, on a walk-off balk.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost in the worst possible way on Saturday night; on a walk-off balk. While the bats did all they could to get tie the game off a red-hot Seattle bullpen, the Mariners capitalized in the tenth and Dylan Floro balked home a run.

Now, the Dodgers are on the ropes and could be facing yet another series loss. While the Dodgers have seemed like the better team in this series, a Seattle win would continue the Dodgers’ streak of not winning series.

Los Angeles has lost three of its last four series with the lone outlier being a 1-1 split with the Oakland Athletics. Granted, the team has had some tough competition but time is running out and the Dodgers need to get hot soon.

Thus, the best way to respond after the worst way to lose it with an offensive showcase. The bats were great on Friday and did well on Saturday against the bullpen. On Sunday, the hitters need to complete the trifecta.

However, yesterday I had no luck in my Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak hitting streak. My pick, Manny Machado, went 0-5 on the night. Sarah did not make a selection, so her streak remained put.

Sarah’s pick — Current streak 1: Brian Dozier

My pick for today is Brian Dozier. Dozier has been absolutely on fire since making the move to the Dodgers has played a key role on this team.

The other day against San Francisco, he got the Dodgers only their second walk-off of the season, and also scored a run in Friday’s 11-1 win over the Mariners.

Dozier has been fitting in so well with his new team, in two and a half weeks since he joined them. Making the switch from the American League to the National League can be tough, but he’s making it look easy. Hopefully, his hot streak continues, sparking a revival in the Dodgers’ offense as a whole.

Jason’s pick — Current streak 0: Enrique Hernandez

The Los Angeles Dodgers are squaring off against a southpaw in Roenis Elias, who has an impressive 2.88 ERA in 25 innings pitched.

After letting Clayton Kershaw and his dominant start down in his last outing, the Dodgers should be attacking early to get runs on the board and support for Kershaw.

With the southpaw on the mound, I am going to select one a southpaw specialist in Enrique Hernandez. Hernandez does not have as good of splits against southpaws that he had in past years, however, after an off day, I like his chances in the matchup.

Enrique Hernandez is going to leave the yard on Sunday and hopefully spark a rally for the Dodgers, who can escape with a 2-1 series win before hosting the St. Louis Cardinals.
