Los Angeles Chargers: Three storylines to watch in preseason week 3
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints are set to square off in the third preseason matchup for both teams.
The Los Angeles Chargers and the rest of the NFL are getting closer and closer to the NFL regular season, where things really start to matter. With two more games left on the preseason schedule, the Chargers are set to host the New Orleans Saints in preseason week 3.
This season is filled with immense promise for the Los Angeles Chargers, who look to enter the year with one of the deepest rosters in football on both sides of the football. A great pass-rush and secondary make the Chargers pass-defense one of the best in the league.
Add veteran quarterback Philip Rivers and a talented receiving corps to that dynamic and the Los Angeles Chargers are scary good — at least on paper.
Fans have gotten a glimpse of this promise in the regular season with the limited time the starters have had on the field. In week 3, fans are going to get a fairly big sample size of what to expect as the starters are set to play the entire first half.
These games still do not matter in terms of playoff appearance or standings but it is nice to get an idea for the team as well as who is going to be a difference maker and who is going to make the roster. With just two preseason games left, and the last often serving as a tune-up for the starters, this game will be the most telling of the four.
With that in mind, there are going to be certain things at stake. Here are the three storylines we think you should keep an eye on as the Los Angeles Chargers take on the New Orleans Saints.
