1. The dynamic between Mike Williams and Philip Rivers

When the Los Angeles Chargers selected Clemson wide receiver, Mike Williams, with the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft it was viewed as a good selection. Williams was far and away the best receiver in the 2017 draft class and looked primed to be a huge difference maker alongside Keenan Allen and the rest of the receiving corps.

However, injury ultimately derailed Williams’ rookie season and led to a fairly unproductive pro debut. While Williams did play in 10 games last season, he made just 11 receptions for 95 yards and not a single touchdown.

Honestly, Williams’ net worth may have been higher if the Chargers simply opted not to play him and let him rest up for this season. But since he was on the field for a decent sample size and really did not do much in that time, it is hard for those outside the Chargers’ spectrum to be excited about him.

Williams has shown in training camp and in the preseason, though, that he can be extremely effective and live up to the promise that he brought with him in his rookie campaign.

We have already seen what Williams and Philip Rivers are capable of together and this game against the Saints with help further evolve that dynamic. By the time the final whistle blows, we will have an idea what Williams will be capable of this season.
