The USC Football Trojans announced that JT Daniels won the starting quarterback Job over Matt Fink And Jack Sears. Daniels will become the second freshman ever to start at quarterback for USC.

USC Football head coach Clay Helton named JT Daniels the starting quarterback as the team gets ready for their matchup Saturday against UNLV. Daniels will be the second true freshman to start at quarterback in USC history.

Daniels beat out redshirt freshman Jack Sears and redshirt freshman Matt Fink for the job.

“We had a very healthy quarterback competition this year with four incredible young men; All are tremendous people, teammates and football players. In the end, JT Daniels has earned the starting position and will be the starter against UNLV”.  Said Coach Helton per ESPN Kyle Bonagura.

Daniels, the 2017 high school player of the year for Mater Dei, led them to a  state title as a junior. That year  Daniels threw for 4.123 yards with 52 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He will replace quarterback Sam Darnold, who was drafted by the New York Jets.

Daniels added per ESPN ” I am honored that coach Helton picked me as the starter, I understand this is a huge responsibility, and I need to work hard to be prepared to handle it. It was a tight competition between all the quarterbacks throughout camp”.

“We pushed each other every day. I felt that coaches decision wouldn’t be wrong whoever he picked,” Daniels said. “I am thankful to Matt and Jack and Holden for teaching me so much and helping me adjust to the system so that I could quickly get into the flow of thins, and I know we will continue to be supportive teammates in the quarterback room.”

Daniels backed up big time hype by playing like a seasoned college quarterback in fall camp. He completed 17 of 21 passes and threw four touchdowns in two scrimmages.
