Number eight and seven:

8. Safety

This is where we get into the talented group of positions as the Los Angeles Rams are just fine at safety yet the position is still the eighth-best of 10. When comparing the safeties to the rest of the league, the Rams are at worst around league average. The rest of the roster is just above average or elite, so there is that.

The obvious standout at safety that is carrying the position is LaMarcus Joyner, who the Rams franchise tagged this last offseason. Joyner is a top-10 safety at least in the NFL and could breakout as one of the NFL’s best next season.

At strong safety, the Rams have the rookie breakout of John Johnson. Johnson certainly is not among the best in the league but does enough to hold his own.

7. Offensive line

This one might be a bit of a surprise to some but it is hard to rank the Rams’ offensive line ahead of any other position group that is ahead of it. The Rams O-line is easily above league average, however, when considering the entire picture, it falls behind the top-six.

The highlight of the offensive line is Andrew Whitworth, who returned to his All-Pro ways last season. However, at 36 years old, Whitworth is not going to be getting better. Center John Sullivan is good but is entering the season at 33 years old.

The rest of the offensive line is not as seasoned but also does not stand out, as the rest of the positions do.
