The Los Angeles Lakers young core makes the team an interesting fit for LeBron James, especially considering each young player will improve.

The Los Angeles Lakers were rumored to land LeBron James for over a year but it never really seemed like a true possibility until LeBron James put pen to paper and signed to be a Laker for four seasons. Even now, as Laker fans wait in anticipation for James’ first appearance as a Laker, it seems like a dream.

One of the biggest reasons for doubting James to come to the Lakers was the team’s lack of star power. Instead of a superstar, the Lakers had a solid young core of players that should eventually blossom into stars. They likely will not be stars next season.

However, the idea of another superstar joining the Lakers due to the plethora of cap space kept the dream alive. And while the Lakers did strike out on Paul George and could not agree to a deal for Kawhi Leonard, James still agreed to come to Los Angeles and lead this young core.

The chances of winning a title in year one are slim. Instead, the Lakers need some help from the Warriors, who could lose pieces after this upcoming season. Los Angeles also needs the help of another star next offseason.

The team will also benefit from the natural progressions that the young core will make. Next season should be a huge growth year for Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma. Here is where each young player should be focusing on improving.
