The Los Angeles Dodgers are in sole possession of first place in the NL West, which is where the team will finish after the regular season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers just won the team’s most important series to date and took sole possession of the NL West in the process. Just under two weeks ago, the Dodgers were swept by the St. Louis Cardinals and seemed to fall out of the NL West race. Now, the team is atop the division.

The Los Angeles Dodgers completed three come from behind wins over the Arizona Diamondbacks in consecutive games to leapfrog from one game behind Arizona to one game ahead.

Enrique Hernandez and Justin Turner were the heroes in game two, Matt Kemp was the hero in both games three and four and the Dodgers finally look much more like the team that created magic on a daily basis in 2017.

There is still a long way to go with a month left to play, especially considering the Dodgers have both the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies in the mix.

However, for the first time this season, I am confident that the Dodgers will walk away as the 2018 NL West Champions. This is coming from a writer that reluctantly threw in the towel on the season after the team was swept by the Cincinnati Reds — holding true to my own promise.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the same spot right now that the team will be in October. Here is why LA will extend its division-winning streak to six years.
